Introduction of Bluing Application

Using induction heating equipment for bluing is an efficient surface treatment technology, mainly used for steel materials. This treatment method can form a dense oxide film on the surface of steel strips, thereby improving their corrosion resistance and aesthetic appeal.


1. Principle of Induction Heating

  • Electromagnetic Induction: Induction heating equipment uses high-frequency current to generate eddy currents on the surface of steel materials, which rapidly heats the material surface to high temperatures. The advantage of this heating method is that it can quickly and uniformly heat the material surface.

  • Efficient Heating: Since the heat is directly applied to the material surface, the thermal efficiency is very high, and the heating speed is fast.


2. Principle of Bluing Treatment

Chemical Oxidation: The bluing treatment generates a dense layer of magnetite (Fe3O4) oxide film on the steel surface through chemical oxidation. This oxide film has high corrosion resistance and can effectively protect steel materials from further oxidation.


3. Process Flow

  • Preheating: First, the steel strip is preheated to a certain temperature, usually around 100°C. This step is to reduce thermal stress during the induction heating process.

  • Induction Heating: Use induction heating equipment to heat the surface of the steel strip to about 550°C, which is the temperature required for bluing treatment.

  • Chemical Oxidation: Quickly immerse the heated steel strip into a solution containing oxidizing agents (such as sodium hydroxide, sodium nitrite, etc.) for chemical oxidation treatment. The oxidizing agents react with the steel strip surface at high temperatures to form a magnetite oxide film.

  • Cooling: After the oxidation treatment is completed, remove the steel strip from the oxidation solution and quickly cool it to fix the oxide film.

  • Cleaning: The cooled steel strip needs to be cleaned to remove residual oxidation solution and impurities from the surface.

  • Post-treatment: As needed, apply oil, wax, or varnish to the surface of the oxide film to further improve its corrosion resistance and aesthetic appeal.

4. Advantages

6. Features

The induction heating equipment of the steel strip bluing production line uses the principle of thermal oxidation of metal steel strips to form a stable blue bright oxide film (layer) on the surface of the steel strip through controlled heating of the steel strip, making it difficult to free itself within a certain period of time. Oxidation (rust).


  • The surface physical and chemical properties of the steel strip are stable and durable; the color consistency is high; and the color depth can be adjusted according to needs (changing the heating temperature).

  • The heating working environment is good, the efficiency is high, the work is stable, and it is convenient for automatic control, etc.

  • The heating steel strip has a wide specification range: when the heating width is 16-32mm, the thickness is 0.5-1.2mm, and there are 10 or 20 strips, the full power output can be achieved without changing the sensor.
